WELL-Defined
Acupressure, like acupuncture, has its roots in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The practice involves the use of manual pressure or localized massage to stimulate strategic points on the body’s meridians in order to balance the flow of vital energy (Qi). Acupressure is used for pain management, stress relief and relaxation.
The Fine Print
Anyone with a bone disease, spinal injury, cancer or rheumatoid arthritis should consult with a doctor before getting acupressure. If you are pregnant, certain types of acupressure are thought to stimulate contractions and could result in premature labor.
