WELL-Defined
Enzymes are protein molecules used by the body to carry out biochemical reactions. They are vital for functions like digestion, respiration and nerve function and work by either breaking down other molecules or binding them together. We need enzymes to survive and to do their jobs, they require near-perfect working conditions: temperature, pH level and diet determine how well an enzyme will function.
The Fine Print
If your pancreas isn’t functioning properly, it can reduce the number of enzymes your body produces. Do not take dietary enzyme supplements without consulting a doctor and always look for pancreatic enzyme products (PEPs) that are approved by the FDA.
Where We Come In
Many fruits and vegetables contain their own digestive enzymes to support those naturally present in the body. A balanced diet is key to regular enzyme activity.
