Springtime isn’t just for spring cleaning your house, it’s a great time to support the natural cleansing process in your body too. While we usually think about eliminating "bad" foods to help detox the body, let's focus instead on adding foods to support your natural detoxifying system. To help your body manage the many toxins found in our environment today, add these delicious and detox-supporting veggies to your weekly meal planning.

Leafy Greens

Dark leafy greens, like spinach, kale, collards, arugula, dandilion (know as a liver tonic) and parsley (among so many other great leafy greens), are some of the most energizing and cleansing foods available. They are full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, many of which are involved in the body's detoxification process.

Sulfur-Rich Foods

Foods such as onions, garlic (alliums) and broccoli, kale, collard greens, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower (cruciferous vegetables) are not only delicious, but they are an important contributor of sulfur to the body. Without sulfur our bodies cannot properly detoxify! Sulfur-rich foods support the liver, increase glutathione (master antioxidant & detoxifier), reduce inflammation, and more.

Daikon

Who knew this mild to spicy radish, daikon, could be so full of amazing benefits for the body that some call it a superfood? Daikon has digestive enzymes, making it the perfect addition to heavier foods and its fiber content will help you with regular elimination. It’s also a natural diuretic helping to flush out toxins and keep your kidneys healthy.

Lemon

First thing in the morning have a glass of water with fresh lemon squeezed in. This potion hydrates you and aids in digestion, helping your body naturally cleanse. Plus it’s full of antioxidants which are important for your detoxification processes (and boosts your immune system too!).
