Looking to tackle hair loss and promote hair growth? Natural oils might be the answer you’ve been looking for. In this article, we’ll explore various oils known for their therapeutic properties and how they can help fight hair loss. Whether you’re dealing with hormonal changes, or stress-related hair issues, these natural oils could be of help.

Rosemary Oil

Rosemary oil is known for promoting scalp health and encouraging hair growth. These benefits can be attributed in part to a compound found in rosemary oil, called ursolic acid. Ursolic acid may boost blood flow to your scalp, giving your hair roots what they need to grow well. Reap the benefits by using diluted rosemary oil and giving your scalp a good massage regularly.

Reap the benefits: Mix a few drops of rosemary oil with a carrier oil like jojoba or coconut oil and massage into the scalp. Leave it on for 15-30 minutes before washing your hair.

Lavender Oil

Outside of its calming scent, lavender oil also boasts properties that promote hair growth. Lavender oil has been linked to increased hair follicle stimulation and improved blood circulation in the scalp, creating a healthy environment for hair growth. Additionally, the soothing scent of lavender can contribute to stress reduction, a factor that plays a role in preventing hair loss.

Reap the benefits: Add a few drops of lavender oil to your favorite carrier oil and massage into the scalp. Leave it on for 15-30 minutes before washing your hair.

Peppermint Oil

Peppermint oil also promotes hair growth by enhancing blood flow to the hair follicles. This increased circulation helps deliver more nutrients to the hair roots, which helps encourage hair growth.

Reap the benefits: Dilute a few drops of peppermint oil in a carrier oil and massage onto the scalp. Rinse thoroughly after 15 minutes.

Cedarwood Oil

Cedarwood oil not only enhances circulation to the scalp, but also balances the scalps oil production which promotes a friendly growth environment. These two qualities help the oil to promote both hair growth and hair strength.

Reap the benefits: Combine cedarwood oil with a carrier oil and massage into the scalp. Leave it on for 30 minutes before washing.

If you want to try out any of the oils listed above, it may be helpful to perform a patch test to ensure the oil does not bother your skin. Before use, make sure to read through this essential oil safety guide.

It is essential to work with a functional medicine practitioner to address the root cause of hair loss (stress, hormones, genetics etc.). But if you are ready for some additional support, essential oils can be a huge help with hair growth!
